Item Description

Here we have a good sized and fine quality example of these excellent "Spinel"-twinned Coppers from the recent finds at the Rocklands Mine in Australia. This piece shows distinct twinning down the length of the specimen, and it's completely pristine on all sides, so I have no problem calling it a complete "floater" with no point of attachment anywhere. I love the antique patina on the piece, giving it the character of an older specimen from years ago. It's rare to find a "Spinel"-twin this size with such defined form. Most of them get rather distorted when they get to this size. A must-have piece if you love crystal morphology or native elements. Specimen weight is 25.20 grams. The Rocklands Mine (also known as the Rocklands Group Copper Project) is a large copper deposit in northwestern Queensland, Australia and wasn't known primarily for producing much in the way of specimens. We started to see some arborescent / dendritic specimens of Copper trickling out in 2017, but in 2019 there was a major discovery of significant and important CRYSTALLIZED Coppers! For the wonderful form and size, we had this piece priced at $1,500 in the inventory.
