Item Description

Michigan is best known for its crystallized Copper specimens. Pieces from Lake Superior may not be as fine of quality as their counterparts from places like Houghton County, but they are still astoundingly good for cystallized Copper. This aesthetic specimen is filled with feather-like, "spear"-shaped Spinel-Law twinned crystal in slender growth formations. The crystals are distinct and sharp, and the piece displays well from either side. The largest crystal measures 2.1 cm, and for all of the forms of Copper from Michigan, it's not commong to see Spinel twins like this. Formerly from the Seaman Museum and comes with a label from the R. E. Ormston Collection of Colorado Springs, CO.
