Item Description

The well-known Tamarack Mine, operated from 1882-1917, was noted for "a wide range of minerals ---, including copper, silver, cuprite, malachite, powellite, and copper "skulls"" (MINDAT). HOWEVER, mineral specimens are VERY RARE from here. This is a striking, rare and highly unusual partial copper skull with a casted calcite rhomb interior! You can easily see where sharp platy rhombs have been casted by the copper in the interior of the skull. Fascinating, old and RARE casted copper from the J.G. Dixon and Tom Wolfe Calcite Collections. Valued at $1000-1250 for rarity and quality.
