Item Description
A startling, sculptural, LARGE CABINET, crystallized copper specimen shaped like a seahorse from the famous Mohawk Mine. The "head" and "tail" are very apparent. The piece is comprised of sharp tetrahexahedral crystals with a nice patina. The artful accents on this striking piece, though, are gem-like, glassy, calcite crystals nestled in the "fins" on the back of the seahorse. They are intricate on close inspection and include a beautiful, doubly terminated calcite of 7 mm. Classic old-time material from an old Michigan Copper Country collection that was recently broken up. Certainly unusual! Valued at $800-1000.
