Item Description

A wonderful showy thumbnail dating to the Fall 2011 discovery of this highly unusual pseudomorph (replacement) where Native Copper has completely replaced the earlier crystals of Cuprite, preserving their octahedral form and making for a beautiful specimen at the same time. The crystals measure up to 1.8 cm in size and show a superb degree of symmetry and perfection in form. This piece has a surface sparkle to it, caused by a later generation of microscopic copper deposition. It's virtually a complete "floater", as I don't see any damage of note, and it appears to be crystallized all over. Choice material, not nearly as common on the market as they were almost 15 years ago.
From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
