Item Description

Here is a very attractive large miniature / small cabinet size specimen of the famous pseudomorphs of Copper after Aragonite from Corocoro. These specimens are well known from Bolivia for their great form and color, and this piece has the classic and unique pseudohexagonal form that has made these pieces some of the most well known and highly sought after pseudomorphs around. This specimen is a fine example of this material, featuring a beautiful pseudomorph with sharp faces, but the most important aspect of the piece is the fact that the pseudomorph is sitting on a slab of native Copper creating a rarely seen MATRIX SPECIMEN of this beautiful material. I have seen a good amount of these specimens over the years, and certainly less than 1% of these classic pseudomorphs are found on matrix! There hasn't been any significant amount of these specimens on the market in approximately 25 years, and they are often only found in old collections. Good Bolivian Coppers and Copper pseudomorphs are not common on the market, and I'm told that the locality was recently purchased by a Korean mining company, so collecting and obtaining specimens will become very difficult in the future.
