Item Description

This piece is actually a true rarity for the locality. Coro Coro is famous for producing distinctive "floater" pseudomorphs of Copper after Aragonite, which are not found anywhere else in the world. These specimens are well known from Bolivia for their great form and color, and they have a classic and unique pseudohexagonal form that has made these pieces some of the most well known and highly sought after pseudomorphs around. Like I said, the vast majority of these pseudomorphs are complete "floater", with no matrix, so certainly the most impressive aspect of the specimen is that features a 4 mm pseudomorph with fairly sharp faces and good form sitting on a sheet of Native Copper creating a rarely seen MATRIX SPECIMEN of this beautiful material. There hasn't been any significant amount of these specimens on the market in approximately 35 years, and they are often only found in old collections. It has come to my attention that a Korean mining company has purchased the area around Coro Coro to mine exclusively for Copper (which will all be melted down), so it will be very difficult to obtain any more specimens as long as they're in production, especially a matrix piece like this so don't miss out.
