Item Description
This is a textbook elongated spinel-twinned copper, and it happens to be from one of the most classic USA copper localities, the Ray Mine. These were found intermittently in pockets from the 1960s, although crystals with both this sharpness and luster were always uncommon. The piece has fabulous luster, and is perfect and complete all around, a total floater with no points of attachment. This is from the important Southwest suite of the Panczner collection. Bill was curator of the Arizona Desert Museum and author of the still-definitive book MINERALS OF MEXICO (1987).
