Item Description

A rarely seen association specimen featuring small, oxidized (almost black) crystals of Native Copper which are sitting on "Hancockite" (now called Epidote-Pb). This is one of the few specimens of Copper with Hancockite that I have seen, not only from Franklin, but any world locality. I have photographed the small crystals under the microscope to better illustrate them, but this is truly a micro specimen. The piece comes from the famous New Jersey collection of Richard Kosnar, who obtained the specimen from noted collector Pat Gross in the early 1990s. The piece still rests in Pat's micro mounting box with her handwriting stating that it's from Parker (Shaft ?).
