Item Description
A very fine old-time Central Mine copper specimen with an outstanding provenance. A super-sharp, complete all-around, 1.3 cm, tetrahexahedron is aesthetically perched on sharp crystals and is dramatically accented with a bonnet of smaller crystals. The crystals have a fine patina complimented by the malachite and quartz. This excellent piece is from the Dr. Lucius Hubbard Collection (1849-1933). He was a staff member of the Michigan Geological Survey and Michigan Mining School (Michigan Tech). He became State Geologist and was then general manager of the Champion Mine. He was on the Michigan Tech Board and was a regent of the University of Michigan! He assembled a very fine large collection of high quality specimens, of which, this is a classic and excellent example. Valued by the former dealer at $800-1000
