Item Description

An attractive, sculptural and "spronge"-like crystallized group of copper crystals and a few wires, tightly intergrown to create this eye-catching, aesthetic display specimen. The very interesting variable patina of the mostly nubby, tetrahexahedral crystal ranges from coppery, to brick-red cuprite-coated to a lustrous golden-coppery. The bright metallic patina along with the artistic appearance make this a very good representative example of copper from this famous mining district. Ex W. Simpson Collection and Dennis Mullane Bisbee Collection. This piece could be from the 1950s or 60s or be much older.
