Item Description

An important American mineral-collector oddity, this is a porcelain-like nodule of datolite with bright copper within; and these specimens are incredibly rare, in any quality showing bright and continuous copper within the datolite nodule. Normally, a fine specimen might have a few small bands of copper, or discrete specks. This, however, has a whole portion of curvaceous, bright copper frozen within the datolite! This is half the original nodule, and comes from the thumbnail collection of Carl Acosta of LA. Such specimens are few and far between. We have seen only a handful in nearly 40 years of dealing minerals. The previous owner valued this at $2000, which seems fair.
