Copper in Calcite - old USA classic, ex Jack Halpern Collection

A fine, old-time Copper-in-Calcite specimen from the historic Quincy Mine in Michigan’s Copper Country, and one that has luster to make it pretty and sparkly instead of dull (as too many, are). This small cabinet has an abundant number of gemmy and silky Calcites up to 1.4 cm in size, and they contain a good amount of bright shiny Copper. The matrix is likely a mix of Quartz and Epidote crystals. Though a few crystals are missing along the edge, probably from mining years ago, the overall piece is in very good condition, and it does not affect the aesthetics or desirability of this Copper-in-Calcite. For good reason, these have become a true American classic. A very fine small cabinet specimen, valued $2000-2500.
