Item Description

A very hard to find specimen of native copper from Leadville. This area was famous for its gold and silver production in the late 1800s, and while copper isn't necessarily rare from Leadville, you don't see many pieces like this on the market, especially these days. This piece is essentially a breccia nugget that was sliced open and polished to reveal the gorgeous internal veins of native copper within. A really attractive mineral / lapidary specimen from one of the most productive and historic mining districts in Colorado. Priced at $450. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California.
