Item Description

Here we have a highly aesthetic and fine quality display of this well-known and soon-to-be-classic material. Going back to the mid 2000s, the mineral collecting world was introduced to some of the most extraordinary crystallized Copper specimens from any world locality. Many of these pieces feature amazing crystallized forms, including attractive skeletal habits and dramatic twinning. I consider this to be one of the most significant Copper discoveries in the last 50 years, and they have already proven themselves as modern-day classics. The quality, sharpness and dramatic crystal growth have set these pieces apart from other crystallized Copper specimens worldwide. This specimen features multiple elaborate "Spinel"-Law twinned crystal groups with delicate and intricate forms, sitting beautifully on the underlying matrix. The darkened patina on this specimen gives it an antique appearance, and truly stands out among many others that I've seen from this classic locality. PLEASE NOTE: This specimen is a bit fragile and must be handled carefully, so keep this in mind when bidding. With that said, it's still a very impressive and high quality example of these exemplary Coppers. Valued $1,800.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#590 Ru), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the coming months and years through our various platforms.
