Item Description

The famous Ray Mine in Arizona is a giant open pit copper locality that lies somewhat in between Tucson, Globe and Phoenix and it has produced many beautiful and iconic mineral specimens over the years. This piece is one of the most attractive and finest quality thumbnails of Copper that I can remember seeing from the locality. This sculptural and showy specimen features beautiful, razor-sharp, flattened, "spear point"-shaped "spinel"-twins of Copper with a wonderful bright metallic quality on the surface. The big crystal atop the specimen sets the whole piece off, but it's entire specimen is dramatic and eye-catching, and certainly a must-have for any fan of worldwide thumbnails, copper specimens or minerals from Arizona. Great quality, superb aesthetics and the piece is essentially a "floater", with no damage or points of attachment than I can find.
From the comprehensive worldwide thumbnail collection of Dr. Alex Schauss.
