Item Description
This is a very heavy, large, and simply dramatic specimen of crystallized copper from the important and historic mining district of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Upper Michigan (now a state park). The piece is crystallized front and back, on both sides, and even all around the bottom as well! Robust crystals of at least 3 habits can be seen here. The specimen is from the Gene Meieran collection, and to him in exchange from the Seaman Museum in Hancock, Michigan, at the heart of the old mining district there. Large, robust coppers like this can go for a huge range of prices, depending on many factors and the market in which they are sold. I would say this could easily be seen in the $2500 low to $5000 moderate price range, without blinking an eye. 2 kilos...
