Item Description
SHOCKING is the only word to describe the color here in person...A beautiful, elongate group of very rare, bright mint-green, glassy Cuprian Smithsonite crystals between 3 mm and 1 cm in size from the best place on the planet for this Smithsonite varietal. A few dozen, vibrantly colored Cuprian Smithsonites are moderately intergrown in this cluster displaying relatively distinct crystals with sharp edges and faces. It is an excellent miniature of Cuprian Smithsonite for its combination of color, luster and size of crystals. Several of the Smithsonite rhombs are 1 cm on edge! This was probably recovered in the 1970s, now such things are seldom seen. The green color is attributed to trace amounts of copper substituting for zinc in the crystal structure. This would be a welcome burst of color in any collection.
