Item Description

The large and storied polymetallic deposit at the New Cornelia Mine dates back to the Spanish in 1750, but modern production didn't start until 1917. With that said, this locality is one of the most famous mines in New Mexico, most notably producing some iconic specimens of Copper and secondary copper-bearing species. This beautiful small cabinet is a sculptural arborescent cluster hosting sharp, well-formed dodecahedral and tetrahexahedral Copper crystals. The overall shape / appearance of the piece is very pleasing, and the stacked crystals have a beautiful light iridescent patina. Very showy and good quality all around. No major damage that I can find, and the piece is essentially a "floater" as I can't see a real point of attachment anywhere.
