Item Description
Strangely beautiful and very rich copper in a highly unusual, large, bowl shape in a boxwork matrix from the famous mines at Bisbee. The bowl is festooned with clusters of hackly copper, very sculptural filigrees and feathers of arborescent spinel-twinned copper crystals and even a few herringbone-shaped clusters of copper crystals. Formerly in the Allan Crunden, Sr. Collection, a prominent East Coast collector who passed away in 1968. Dick Hauck, founder and owner of the Sterling Hill Museum in New Jersey, purchased his collection and the piece became a member of his broad and important collections. The overall presentation of this rich, exotic, old-time copper is fascinating under close examination. It has a moss-like appearance. Valued at $3500.
