Item Description

Large elongated crystals of Copper have formed a shapely, fan-like, aesthetic piece from the famous deposits in Upper Michigan's copper country. The big, complex, spinel-twinned crystals are from 1 to just over a whopping 4.5 cm length, and from 0.7 to 2 cm in width. They have a slightly variegated and beautiful natural patina that is copper-red to dull brownish copper color. The piece is both elongated and wide with the extended crystals grouped in slightly divergent, extended individuals in a coarse, sculptural arborescent form that is incredibly appealing. I hate to say it, but it looks much like modern art! This habit and mode of crystal form is a departure from the usual Native Copper specimens from the Michigan Copper Country. Although we do not have a specific label with an old mine name, this is from the Pewabic Lode group of mines, perhaps and probably from the Centennial or Seneca Mines due to the shape and style. This is large and impactful, and stands vertically on a custom lucite base! Valued $7500-9500.
