Item Description

Two generations of intense light and dark green conichalcite micro botryoids richly cover the sculptural large matrix on this colorful and showy specimens from 1950s finds from the well-known Gold Hill Mine of Utah. Lighter green smaller botryoids cover most of the piece and are highlighted fields of large darker green botryoids. This extinct As-Cu-Au-Pb-Ag-Zn-W-Ba (baryte) mine is famous for an assemblage of secondary copper and other metal secondary minerals (MINDAT). See the 1993 Mineralogical Record article in Vo. 24, No. 1. Ex Chris and Agatha Galas Collection. The Galas's were California mineral dealers who advertised in The Mineralogical Record in the 1970s. Classic, rich and old large example of the species from the famous locality. Unusual in size.
