Item Description

Barthite from the well-known, circa 1975 find at famed Mina Ojuela, was once thought to be cuprian austinite, but research has shown this to be primarily conichalcite. Scintillating, gemmy aggregates of apple-green crystals are very richly and aesthetically scattered in the sturdy sculptural gossan matrix. See the Ojuela Mine Mineralogical Record Special Issue, Vol. 34, # 5, Sept-Oct., 2003. Rare in this fine quality, this is a highly unusual specimen! Ex James Zigras Mexico Collection and comes with a faded Scott Williams label of the era.
