Item Description

Scintillating, gemmy, luscious apple-green conichalcite crystals are festooned in the sculptural vug in sturdy gossan matrix on this extra fine specimen from the well-known around 1975 find at Mina Ojuela. The Art Soregaroli and Carter Rich labels list this as cuprian austinite (barthite), but research has shown this to be primarily conichalcite. See the Ojuela Mine Mineralogical Record Special Issue, Vol. 34, # 5, Sept-Oct., 2003. Rare in this fine quality, this is a highly unusual specimen!
