Item Description
Two lustrous metallic columbite-tantalite crystals are dramatically set atop the sculptural albite matrix on this fine and rare example from this famous pegmatite. Mineral specimens of any species are very rare from the Etta Mine, renowned for huge beryl, spodumene and feldspar crystals. The very sharp, blocky frontal crystal with interesting modified edges is 2.5 x 1.2 x 1.2 cm and is nearly pristine, with only a small bruised edge. The rear crystal is terminated, but both ends are cleaved. There is a 3.7 x 0.8 cm section of another tabular crystal on the left side of the piece. This remains a very fine, highly representative and rare matrix combination example of the species and famous locale. Fairly valued at $800-100 for locality specimen for the USA. RARE! ex Chris Korpi collection a long time ago....
