A 3.8 cm, metallic luster, jet-black, tabular Columbite-(Fe)-Columbite-(Mn) Series crystal is artistically set in the sculptural small cabinet albite matrix from the Fano Mine. Both ends of the crystal are broken and you can see impressions in the albite, that the crystal was larger. The pegmatite is best known for aquamarine and schorl specimens. Columbite specimens are rare from the Fano Mine. They haven't been available for decades, and you can only get them from old collections like this. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. An excellent and rare combination matrix example from the locale! Hard to value, as such a thing is so rare.
