Columbite-(Fe)-Columbite-(Mn) Series (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A good sized, fiarly sharp, well-formed, thick, heavy (for its size) prismatic crystal group of jet black Columbite from Minas Gerais, Brazil. The piece is in good shape overall, with only a few rough spots here and there. This is certainly an old specimen dating back to at least the 1950s based upon the catalogue number. Hard to find on the market now and certainly worth picking up for anybody who collects Brazilian minerals or Niobates. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1697). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
