Item Description

A large, well-defined dodecahedral almandine garnet crystal from the classic Colorado locale of Sedalia. The lustrous faces are mostly covered with attached green chlorite schist with a bit of mottled rust-brown. This crystal is contacted on two faces, but remains a highly representative large example of the species and famous Colorado locale. Ex. Dennis Mullane Collection and dates to the 1960s-early 70s or older. 713 grams or nearly 1.6 pounds. You do not see many of these around today!
