Item Description
An excellent and dramatic, CABINET fluorite specimen from the famed Minerva #1 Mine of Southern Illinois. This lustrous, translucent, color-zoned crystal has the classic yellow core with vivid bands of blue and purple. The backlit photos highlight the distinctive and gorgeous color zoning. The frosted, striking stepped faces (especially the front) are sprinkled with sparkly chalcopyrite microcrystals. This piece is a near floater, with only a couple of points of attachment and the back holds a real bonus! Gemmy, colorless to light amber, calcite rhombs cover the back and one edge! A bruise in the front and a chip on a top face are noted, but are very minimal detractions. Comes with a custom-made and labeled lucite base valued at $150 just for the base itself. This would easily be a $1500-plus piece, if perfect. The ding is there, but visualy you have to look to see it and so I regard this as still a very worthy piece.
