Color-zoned Fluorite, Quartz & Siderite (classic locale)

An impresssive, rich and rare fluorite combination plate from this famous County Durham lead and fluorite mine, that operated from the early 19th century until 1931 (MINDAT). Most fluorite from the Boltsburn Mine is purple, but the beautifully set string of cubes along the upper left edge are predominantly green. The very glassy, gemmy cubes, to 1.8 cm, have pretty mint-green interiors with striking purple edge phantoms. Quartz and siderite are common accessories from the locale, but this piece is dramatically festooned with a rare myriad of sharp glassy di-pyramidal (beta style) quartz crystals and underlain by exposed patches of lustrous, brown flattened siderite rhombs. Exceptional and rare large fluorite combination material in this richness and quality from the Boltsburn Mine. Rich purple fluorescence, as you would expect.
