Color-zoned Fluorite on Quartz

Item Description

Really cool and unusual fluorite from an unnamed mine in Zhejiang Province, China. The pristine fluorite cubes, to 2.8 cm on edge, are dark purple with satin luster stepped-growth faces under normal light and are dramatically accented with preferential coatings of starkly contrasting, sparkly white druzy quartz. Backlighting reveals a striking BONUS to the cubes! The translucent cubes are color-zoned with cranberry-red cores surrounded by dark purple edge phantoms. The aesthetically clustered fluorite cubes are well-balanced on the large, well-prepared, sawed matrix plate covered with sparkly, tan druzy quartz. Rich purple LW UV fluorescence. 1208 grams or 2.7 pounds mass. This is a RARE and exotic style of fluorite with druzy quartz coatings from the province. This was a COVID era find, and we never pinned down the exact locality at the time.
