Item Description

This ancient fluorite mine has produced some of France's finest fluorite specimens and this is an exceptional large example. Densely intergrown, gorgeous, gem, color-zoned cubes, to 2.6 cm, cover the sculptural and aesthetic, large mounded plate. The glassy and lustrous cubes have beautiful blue and violet edge phantoms, that surround the dramatically contrasting golden-yellow cores. The back lit photos highlight the beautiful color hues and phantoms. The attachment on the back reveals the dramatic, colorful, variable banding of the fluorite. Purple LW UV fluorescence. Ex Paul Zerfass Collection and dating to the 1980s. He is a well-known French collector and field collector and possibly collected this outstanding piece himself. Offered at a recent well-known auction house with an estimate of $7000 and up on the tag, and somehow got liquidated by previous owner and in a lot deal we ended up with! A magnificent and significant large color-zoned fluorite from the famed La Barre Mine.
