Item Description

One of the interesting subsets of gemstones are the seldom seen color change stones. This phenomenon is seen in stones that show a different color when viewed in different temperature lighting. One of the oldest and best examples of color change gems is Alexandrite, and you'll often seen some stones labeled as showing an "Alexandrite-type" effect. Here we have an attractive color change Garnet stone from Tanzania. This material is probably a mix of two or more Garnet species, as testing is showing that they very few of them are purely a single species. The gem has a very attractive lilac-pink color in indoor lighting, and changes to a rich purplish-pink color in sunlight. This color change is very difficult to find in most gemstones. The cut on this stone is an "Oval Brilliant" cut. The stone is also virtually eye clean. A highly valued gem on the market today. Garnets are incredibly popular in among collectors, dealers and jewelers because they occur in virtually every color of the rainbow. You can find Garnets in all shades including the incredibly hard to find true blue color.
