Colemanite with Ulexite (rare locale)

Impressive and sculptural large 360-degree combination of colemanite in well developed crystals, with an accent of another borate species, from this less well-known borate mine in Turkey. Snow-white Ulexite covers much of the striking, 3-dimensional, knobby mounded matrix of sharp monoclinic blocky Colemanite crystals. The translucent colemanites are beige colored and have a pleasing pastel-yellow hue, when back lit. We exchanged this from a Turkish geologist in the early 2000s, who obtained the piece himself while working in Turkey from the Izmir Museum in Turkey. Although it was labelled as Inderite, this has a different form from these blocky colemanite crystals and it is indeed colemanite with a confusing coating of ulexite. This is a rare assemblage from a rare locale!
