Item Description
This former borate mine, now located in Death Valley National Park, is well-known for evaporite species and pseudomorphs. Sparkly, drusy, brown sugar-brown Colemanite has pseudomorphed a sculptural large intergrown cluster of tabular Inyoite crystals. The impressive and pristine large well-placed pseudo at the crest is 4.3 cm across. We have not seen others to compare it to....but it is beautiful and sharp, and quite rare. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. This rich and fine large pseudomorph specimen probably dates to the 1960s or 70s. See the 1974 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 5, No. 4.
