Item Description
Sparkly, drusy, brown sugar-brown Colemanite has pseudomorphed a sculptural large intergrown cluster of tabular Inyoite crystals. The tabular crystal at the crest is 4.2 cm across and the notched crystal just below it is 5.0cm across. The tabular crystal on one end is 4.7 cm across. This extinct borate mine, now located in Death Valley National Park, is well-known for evaporite species and pseudomorphs. Pieces of this size, richness and quality are quite RARE from here. The base has been sawed to enhance the display quality of this very showy and rich large specimen. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. This rich and fine large pseudomorph specimen probably dates to the 1960s or 70s. See the 1974 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 5, No. 4.
