Item Description

A classic specimen of featuring dozens of very lustrous, sharp, gemmy, well-formed, colorless "spear head"-shaped bladed crystals of Colemanite associated with sharp, golden-yellow Calcite rhombs from the famous U.S. Borax Open Pit, in the Mojave Desert, California. The Colemanite crystals measure up to 1.2 cm. According to a listing from Rock Currier on mindat.org, "Calcite was common in the early days of the deposit when the open pit exposed the topmost part of the deposit in the late 50s & 60s". This piece is in great condition all around, with very minor roughness in spots. You rarely see Colemanite specimens with crystals of such fine quality these days.
