Colemanite (excellent crystals - rare locality)

A wonderful matrix specimen of Colemanite from the lesser-known Lower Biddy McCarthy Mine (Little Biddy Mine) in Ryan, California featuring excellent, very sharp, rather lustrous, notably well-formed, white to colorless blocky monoclinic crystals of Colemanite from California. The crystals measure up to 3.0 cm, which is good sized for the material. Good condition all around, despite a few contacted areas on the lower portion of the piece You rarely see Colemanite specimens with crystals this size and of such fine quality on the market. Priced at $750 in the inventory. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020, and originally from the collection of Al Ordway (#2523). Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
