Colemanite (excellent crystals - rare locality)

Item Description

A very impressive and fine quality piece of Colemanite from the lesser-known Biddy McCarthy Mines in Ryan, California featuring excellent, very sharp, rather lustrous, GEM/gemmy, notably well-formed, white to colorless blocky monoclinic crystals of Colemanite from California. The largest crystal measures 1.3 cm. Good condition all around, as most of the crystals are undamaged. You rarely see Colemanite specimens with crystals of such fine quality on the market.
From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020 (#RR0716). Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
