Item Description

A beautiful and aesthetic specimen of Colemanite from the famous locality at Boron. Typically, Colemanite specimens are rather "flat" and two-dimensional, but this piece has great form with several, gemmy, colorless blades forming attractive crystallized "arms" flaring out of the matrix. The largest Colemanite crystal measures 8.5 mm, and the piece is a great representative example of this classic borate species. Colemanite is named after William Coleman who founded the California borax industry and owned of the mine where the species was discovered.
