Item Description

A fine quality and aesthetic specimen of Colemanite from the famous locality at Boron. Typically, Colemanite specimens are rather "flat" and two-dimensional, but this piece has great form with mutiple sharp, gemmy, colorless crystals forming an attractive crystallized group. The largest Colemanite crystal measures 1.1 cm, and the piece is a great overall example of this classic borate species. The piece comes with an old Wilensky label from "The Treasury Room". Colemanite is named after William Coleman who founded the California borax industry and owned of the mine where the species was discovered.
