Colemanite, perhaps the most collected and best crystallized of the calcium-rich Borates, seldom comes in crystals so lustrous from other localities. The 1-2 mm crystals coat the surface of the matrix, and all the crystals comprising these spherical aggregates are gemmy and highly lustrous. This is a very good, representative specimen from the Death Valley area. Inyo County and Death Valley contain the Type Localities for Colemanite and numerous other evaporite species.
