Vibrant pink, gemmy, translucent cobaltoan smithsonite rhombs, to 1.1 cm, richly cover the sculptural 3-dimensional matrix on this showy and excellent small cabinet example of this highly desirable Tsumeb varietal. The matrix is colorless smithsonite with sulfides. Classic smithsonite with above average rich pink color from the Kay Robertson Collection # 3450. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
