Cobaltite (huge crystal, old classic!)

This thumbnail has a lot going for it. Firstly, it is a large, euhedral crystal that is quite modified in form, and basically complete all around save for the small contacted areas (typical of this material). The luster is excellent and metallic, with the faces smooth to slightly grooved. Tunaberg is certainly one of the world's best localities for the species. Add to this the history - this thumbnail was once in the collection of the British Museum of Natural History, and you have a choice, desirable specimen. Valued $1500-2000 for sheer size, with the label as a bonus!
