Item Description

An extremely sharp, metallic-bright, 1.1 x 0.8 x 0.7 cm, pseudocubic cobaltite crystal is aesthetically set atop dolomite matrix from a classic Canadian locality - the Sudbury District. Faces of this Co-As sulfosalt cube have a nice iridescence. Sudbury cobaltites rival those from Sweden in worldwide quality and the Swedish crystals have a different crystal habit, most being pseudopyritohedral. This is a fairly large crystal for the locale and is a matrix piece, to boot. A very choice example of the species and locality. Ex. Robert Nowakowski Collection. Valued at $1000 for crystal size, quality and matrix association. A competitive thumbnail.
