Glowing, neon pink Cobalt-bearing Calcites like this from the DRC rarely show up for sale. The bright pastel pink crystals on this stunning piece are mostly gemmy to translucent, naturally bright, and lustrous and the scalenohedral (dog tooth) multifaceted crystals range up to 2 cm long. The specimen is vibrant and just sparkles. Spheres and patches of light olive green Kolwezite provide complementary color contrast. Kolwezite is a rare secondary copper-cobalt carbonate with very limited worldwide localities. This showy example is probably from the finds of the late 1980s, and they are arguably among the most colorful mineral specimens ever found. Aesthetic and attractive, the color speaks for itself. These usually are priced in a range of $4000-6000 low to high, simply for color.
