Item Description
Rare pink cobalt-bearing smithsonite stalactites from famed, extinct Tsumeb Mine, where smithsonite is common enough but stalactites are awfully rare! The sculptural and pristine parallel-growth pair of stalactites have a black sulfide core, that has been totally encased by translucent, waxy luster, pastel-pink, curved smithsonite rhombohedrons. Valued by the former dealer at $1800 for unique stalactitic form, color and quality. Old material, probably from the 1960s. This was from an old Namibian collection sold off by Marshall Sussman in the early 2000s.
