Item Description

Although common worldwide, some smithsonite is much more rare than other habits: Elongated scalenohedral crystals of cobalt-included pink Smithsonite are the rarest of the pink varieties from Tsumeb, and remain unique in the world for their look, their sharpness, their gemminess and pink coloration combined...and to find these aesthetically on matrix was very rare. THis probably came out in the 1970s or early 1980s and the quality makes it uncommon. The luster is excellent - the classic shiny to glassy/pearly that we have come to expect, and the color is attractive. The largest Smithsonite is 1.9 cm! The Smithsonite crystals are well-distributed, which gives the piece and the individual crystals the best balance for maximum aesthetics. it is undamaged save for a few minor secondary crystals of no importance to the overall view. A fine display-quality miniature from the Art Soregaroli collection. Valued $1500-2000
