Cobalt-bearing Calcite with Malachite

The Mashamba West Mine has produced, from the 1980's, some of the most alluring and elegant cobalt-bearing Calcites we have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Often translucent, it is a major treat to find clear, GEMMY, scalenohedral crystals of this variety. These glassy little jewel has a gorgeous, magenta-pink color that is brought to life by the superb luster. At 1 cm in size, the Calcite displays perfectly in the open pocket. The green spheres are perhaps Malachite, and the single inclusion adds so much character to the Calcite, giving it an almost Art Deco feel. Specimens such as this are rare, beautiful, and unique. And having been found over 30 years ago, it is noteworthy when one of such quality becomes available. Better even in person. Note that this could trim to a spectacular thumbnail specimen!
