Cobalt-bearing Calcite (doubly-terminated)

Alex Schauss' collection was well known for a suite of fine, hot pink crystals from the old finds of hot pink calcites from the 1980s and this is an exceptional, aesthetic, doubly terminated crystal in a perfect balance for display as a thumbnail specimen. It has stunning color! Note that we show the crystal with front-lighting, backlighting, and strong backlighting to show you the differences in lights; and we feel it actually looks best simply in normal room lighting, without any need of a backlight. It is naturally translucent. It is complete all around, perfect, and shows only a small contact to the host rock it grew from in the middle of the back side (otherwise, it would be a true floater, although it looks like one anyways!). It is difficult to value such a piece today. This is not just an example, not just a "small pink crystal" - it has such a balance and an aesthetic that it draws the eye to any thumbnail display.
